Stock clips from different cameras can fight each other on the timeline. Here is the four-pass method our editors use to make everything feel shot on the same day.
1. Balance first, style later
Neutralize white balance and exposure on every clip before touching a creative LUT. If skin tones and greys match, half the battle is already won.
2. One contrast curve to rule them
Apply a single gentle S-curve across an adjustment layer so all clips share the same contrast backbone. Then trim individual clips underneath it.
3. Palette with restraint
Pick two hues to favor — teal shadows and warm skin is a classic for a reason. Push everything else toward neutral so the look reads as intentional, not accidental.
4. Grain is the glue
A whisper of 35mm grain over the whole sequence hides compression differences between sources and sells the film illusion instantly.
